Weirdness

While we were crossing Buendia (in front of World Trace Center) last Saturday, the lady beside us kept saying to her companion, "O, hindi pa nga stop eh.

There was this girl who was bragging to her friend about her so called "elevator etiquette". She went something like "I don't do that. you know, scream in the elevator...blah...blah..it's called elevator etiquette..blah...blah..." The thing is, she was the only one talking in the elevator, or boses niya lang ang narinig ko. There goes her "elevator etiquette."

Good Inside

This is one of my favorite songs from the Land Before Time series...

Everybody has a lot of good inside them
and everybody has a little bad
Everyone is going to make you happy sometimes
and everyone is going to make you sad
They will trip on your tail, or tramp on your toes
or knock you in a puddle
It is not that they mean to be mean, no, no
They are only in a bit of a muddle

Everybody want to do the right thing
only sometimes they do it all wrong
Whoa!
When they think you think they really weak and little
they act like they awful big and strong
They stomp all around, and talk real loud
but it's just pretendly
They're sticking their beaks all up in the air

When they might just wanna be friendly
No one's only black or white
We're pink
And yellow
And green

Sometimes we're wrong
Sometimes we're right
But mostly, we're somewhere in between

Everybody's got a little dark side to 'em
Everyone has got a little light
Someone that you care about can hurt your feelings
And then he can make it all right

Maybe he's grumpy, maybe he'll shout
Maybe he'll fill your head full of doubt
But if ya turn him inside out
there is good inside

Everybody has
Good inside

Yuro's Choice

One way to encourage language development in toddlers is to offer them choices instead of just asking what they want. But if your toddler is as talkative as Yuro, giving choices may no longer be necessary, because he can clearly state what he wants and most of the time demands for it.

Scene #1:
We're starting to wean Yuro from drinking milk from the bottle. Somehow, his dad was able to lure him to transfer the milk to the bottle cap and drink it from there. One time, when he was asking for milk, I said he has to drink it from the cup. When he didn't want to, I asked "Oh sige, ano na lang gusto mo, tubig sa bote o gatas sa takip?" He answered, "gatas sa bote!"

Scene #2:
One breakfast time, he wanted to eat the cereals straight from the pack. I insisted that he needs to eat it with milk and I have already prepared one for him. When he won't give in, I asked "Ano gusto mo eto (cereal with milk) o ayun (rice)?" He answered "eto (showing the pack of cereals he's holding)!"

In both cases, I gave in because I couldn't take the whining.

Observations

I'm a Catholic. Baptized as a Catholic, that is. I wouldn't call myself a practicing one. I went to a Catholic school, I know how to pray the rosary (knows all mysteries by heart), the angelus and several other prayers but I don't go to church regularly. I'm against the church's stand on contraceptives, capital punishment and most especially their interference in politics. And I don't think I'm alone on this. They say 90% of Filipinos are Catholics. I wonder how many among us are Catholics because we agree with the church's teachings and how many are Catholics because it is the most lenient and most "convenient" religion.

Let me share some observations...

One time when we passed by Mt. Carmel Church in Quezon City, there was a tiangge within the church's compound. Paul said "Tingnan mo yan, church may tiangge. Di ba sa Bible nagalit si Jesus sa mga nagtitinda sa Church?" I said, "baka naman for a good cause." And he answered "kahit pa, church yan eh." Well, he has a point there. In fact, there are a lot of churches that allow vendors inside their premises. In San Roque Cathedral, there were even rides within the compound during the fiesta week! But the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Tayuman is an exception. I really admire the administration of Msgr. Matt. There are no vendors within the church premises. They don't even sell rosaries!

San Roque Cathedral hosted an advance screening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in Trinoma. Fund-raising for the improvement of the church interiors!

When we visited our in-laws last Palm Sunday, na-timing na labasan sa church so medyo nagtraffic dun sa road papunta sa street nila Paul. And yung ibang cars coming from the church singit nang singit. Paul said "Tingnan mo 'tong mga mokong na 'to, kagagaling lang ng simbahan eh..." The church is a bit far from where we were, what I mean is pwede talaga silang pumila, dapat talaga silang pumila.

There were lots of people at Leslie's Tagaytay last Good Friday. And every table has a bowl of bulalo! (kasama kami dun) The church requires only two days of fasting in a year - Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

The proponents of the RH Bill are Catholics.

In Singapore, when Ash Wednesday fell on the same date as Chinese New Year, the church postponed fasting to Friday but continued with the imposition of Ashes on that Wednesday.

A Heaven of A Week

Actually it was an 8-day week. It started on the evening of March 27 (Sat) when I had a pre-birthday celebration with my highschool barkada. It was a night of full of talk, singing, eating and drinking. :)

March 28 - We visited my in-laws in Laguna. The kids had so much fun picking fruits from the Indian Mango Tree. We then took a short trip to Nuvali for fish feeding. We always do that whenever we visit our in-laws. I also got a Gibo baller and tarp from my brother-in-law. :)

March 29 (Mon) - got Yuan's report card and I was pretty satisfied with his grades. Job well done for both me and Yuan! hahaha!

March 30 (Tue) - loved the many birthday greetings and enjoyed some chat with friends. Paul treated me with best Philly Cheesesteak I've ever tasted since I first tasted one in Delaware. It was from Elbert's Cheesesteaks in Powerplant. The place was recommended by his officemate. It's a fastfood, but the cheesesteak was really great that even Yuan liked it! More than that, what I really appreciated was the fact that Paul actually planned something for my birthday! He knows how much I love Philly cheesesteak. :)

March 31 (Wed) - received some more birthday greetings. I was able to release some old baggage to a friend and that felt good.

April 1 (Thu) - a non-working holiday...movietime with the kids in Paul's theater.

April 2 (Fri) - went to Tagaytay, stayed at Residence Inn. Enjoyed the mini-zoo, went to Calaruega, then had dinner at Leslie's. The bulalo was great, Yuan enjoyed the calamares! :)

April 3 (Sat) - spent early morning taking pictures around the mini-zoo in Residence Inn, went to not-so-nice Paradizoo and had lunch at RSM. The view was great and the ginataang sugpo was yummy. Of course, we ordered calamares again for Yuan. :) Reached home before 3pm. Rested for a while then watched Clash of the Titans at SM San Lazaro.

April 4 (Sun) - family outing at Amana Waterpark in Pandi, Bulacan. There were only three pools- a very big wave pool, a kiddie pool and a not-so-infinity pool (naubusan kasi ng tubig). The life-size characters were nice. The kids had so much fun, and that's all that matters. :)

Review: Clash of the Titans

Well, walang clash, walang titans! What I mean is there's nothing big in this movie.

Walang kwenta ang fights, as in wala talagang clash!

We watched it on Black Saturday, tamang-tama kasi para lang kaming nanood ng The Ten Commandments. Not worth the time and money.

Read na lang the detailed plot here. Para mo na ring pinanood yun movie.
Mukhang mas okay pa ang plot nung luma eh.

Sensitivity

I was so hurt when some of those I consider my close and true friends forgot to greet me on my birthday. Actually, every year naman they forget and every year nagtatampo ako (without them knowing it) every year I forgive and still, every year I expect they would remember. Ka-ngok-ngokan!

This year was a bit different kasi I was able to tell how hurt I was to one of them. I accepted the apology though I hated the excuse. I guess what's important to me is that they know na how I feel, pati yung tampo ko sa pangdedeadma nila sa mga invitations ko before nasabi ko na rin. After the exchange of emails I realized that the fault was mine. I gave too much importance to people to whom I'm not that important. So I'm telling myself now to accept that fact, let go and treasure those who really treasure me as a friend. If next time they remember to greet me and if they'll no longer ignore party invitations, then good. If not, then I just wouldn't care anymore. Sabi nga sa isang quote "Never allow someone (in my case some people) to be a priority while allowing yourself to be just their option." Sana lang, mapanindigan ko nga.
